Job summary

Montessori International Children’s House in Annapolis, MD seeks an Extended Day Assistant to support the program for ages 3-12. This part-time role (about 10–15 hours/week) focuses on nap times, supervision, and enriching activities in a Montessori environment.

Work with the team to ensure smooth transitions, classroom setup/cleanup, and coverage as needed. Commitment to the school’s mission and ability to communicate effectively with staff is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong commitment to the school’s mission and vision.
• Montessori pedagogy knowledge preferred.
• Minimum of one-year teaching or childcare experience with preschool and elementary-aged children.
• Strong relationship building skills and ability to communicate effectively with colleagues.
• Openness to feedback and willingness to contribute to program outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Set up and supervise nap for toddler and primary children.
• Supervise indoor and outdoor recess for ages 3-12.
• Assist in planning and organizing exceptional, enriching extended day lessons and activities for children ages 3-12.
• Work collaboratively with the team to implement program activities.
• Work within the schedule to ensure smooth and effective transitions between program activities.
• Daily room set-up and break-down, including moving materials, supplies, and equipment, and setting up classrooms.
• Provide classroom coverage due to absences as needed.
