Oberlin College is seeking an Experiential Learning Programs Coordinator/Manager to provide educational, administrative, financial, and logistical support for Winter Term programs, Study Away, and International Programs. This full-time, temporary role reports to the Director of Winter Term, Study Away and International Programs and the Dean of Arts & Sciences.
The position supports the Office of Winter Term, Office of Study Away, and Center for Engaged Liberal Arts in aligning immersive learning
Reporting to the Director of Winter Term, Study Away and International Programs and the Dean of Arts & Sciences, the Experiential Learning Programs Coordinator/ Manager provides educational, administrative, financial, and logistical support for on- and off-campus Winter Term programs, Study Away, and International Programs. This is a full-time, temporary position.
Founded in 1833, Oberlin is a private four-year, selective liberal arts college near Cleveland, Ohio and is also home to an outstanding Conservatory of Music. Together, the two divisions enroll approximately 2900 students. Oberlin College was the first college in the US to make interracial education and co-education central to its mission. The Office of Winter Term manages the project proposal, application, and grant processes for Winter Term and also coordinates the work of the Winter Term Committee. Oberlin’s Winter Term takes place each January for four weeks and encourages students to explore fields of study and experiential learning opportunities that may directly link to their major, but also encourages exploration beyond the major.
The Office of Study Away promotes international education (study abroad and away, global academic service learning, international internships, and faculty-led study abroad programs) by advising students, faculty, and staff on various opportunities and options; working with students and faculty to assure compliance with college policies; identifying appropriate opportunities; preparing students for an immersion experience; developing and offering opportunities for students for reflection and application of experience through learning portfolio mentorship; advocating on campus for global immersion experience; and supporting the mission of the Center for Engaged Liberal Arts.
The Center for Engaged Liberal Arts ( CELA ) comprises a range of offices that help students explore opportunities beyond the classroom through immersive, engaged learning experiences.
