Oberlin College invites applicants for the position of Logistics Manager. This full-time, continuing 12-month Administrative and Professional Staff role reports to the Senior Director of Facilities Operations.
The successful candidate will lead stockroom, distribution, transport, furniture coordination, event setup/teardown, and mail/package delivery while supporting daily needs of Facilities Operations and the College.
Oberlin College is inviting applicants to apply for the position of Logistics Manager. This is a full-time, continuing 12-month Administrative and Professional Staff position reporting to the Senior Director of Facilities Operations.
The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing all related operational aspects pertaining to the stockroom, distribution needs, transportation concerns, campus furniture, event set-ups/tear downs, freight/material movement, storage inventory, chauffer activities, and mail/package delivery for the college. This position also assists with the daily operational needs and requirements of Facilities Operations and the College. Reacting to emergency facility demands as required. The ability to work after hours, weekends and holidays to support our facility needs and College events or programs.
Experience working and supervising in a distribution, transportation, and/or facilities/plant service department. Candidate must have proficient knowledge in computer applications for management information systems, spreadsheet systems, database, word processing and internet browsing. A background with and knowledge of automated work order systems. Leadership knowledge, skills and abilities focusing on initiative, customer service, creativity, innovation, and team building. Ability to work systematically, to supervise staff and to respond flexibly to exceptional facilities situations. Demonstrate the ability to work well in a complex organizational structure responding to the needs of a diverse multicultural higher education community. Must be well organized with the ability to work alone without direct supervision. Technical proficiency in related services, including regulatory requirements and associated hazards. An aptitude for working with the physical aspects of an institution, and in a service-oriented department. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Well-developed interpersonal skills and excellent references.
Bachelor’s degree in logistics, or related experience in procurement, inventory management, facilities, transportation and/or distribution systems. Services certifications/affiliations a plus.
