Job summary

MDS Staffing is seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Paralegal to support attorneys at a respected Cleveland law office. The role requires in-depth knowledge of Ohio workers’ compensation procedures and the ability to independently manage claims, filings, and deadlines.

Responsibilities include preparing claims for hearings, drafting pleadings and summaries, organizing medical records, and coordinating examinations.

Qualifications

• At least three years of paralegal experience in a law firm or other legal setting.
• Working knowledge of Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and Industrial Commission of Ohio procedures.
• Paralegal certificate, related degree, or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent writing, proofreading, analytical, and organizational abilities.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and complete time-sensitive assignments.
• Sound judgment and a proactive approach to attorney support.

Responsibilities

• Prepare workers’ compensation claims for administrative hearings.
• Draft pleadings, claim summaries, correspondence, and other legal documents.
• Request, organize, and review medical records.
• Coordinate independent medical examinations and prepare summary correspondence.
• Monitor case activity, filing requirements, and critical deadlines.
• Submit documents electronically to courts and administrative agencies.
• Proofread filings for accuracy and compliance with applicable rules.
• Assist with depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trials.
• Communicate professionally with attorneys, clients, medical providers, and outside parties.
• Identify potential issues and elevate them appropriately.
