Job summary

Duke Careers in Durham, NC seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for Lenox Baker Children’s Hospital. This on-site, full-time position features a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with 40 hours per week, and leadership responsibilities as needed on the unit.

The nurse will provide professional nursing care, supervise licensed and unlicensed staff, support patient and family education, and ensure safe, high‑quality care aligned with established plans.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (or higher) OR Associate's Degree in Nursing OR Nursing Diploma program.
• All registered nurses without a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (or higher) must enroll in a BSN program within two years and complete within five years of start date.
• Current registration with North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse OR current compact RN licensure.
• BLS Certification.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide professional nursing care for patients in accordance with the medical and nursing plans of care and established policies and procedures.
• Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers.
• Act as team leader or charge nurse as assigned and support coordination of patient care.
• Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain the environment of care including equipment and material resources.
• Support professional development, preceptorship, performance improvement, and patient/family education.
