Position Overview

The Central Staffing Department supports our Network Campuses by maintaining appropriate staffing levels, enabling our PCAs to deliver top-quality patient care. The Network Float (Central Staffing) PCA is an experienced professional who provides care across various clinical settings within the network, participating in data collection, planning, and patient care implementation.

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in an inpatient hospital setting.
  • Experience working in an Acute Care (Med Surg) setting preferred.
  • Ability to travel to a minimum of 5 network campuses.

Shift Details

Positions are available for Evening or Night shifts, based on network needs. Full-time (36 or 40 hours/week) and part-time (<36 hours/week) options are available. All positions require the ability to complete 6 consecutive days of initial orientation, including unit-specific training. Holiday and weekend work may be required per unit policies.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform tasks such as vital signs, intake/output measurements, EKGs, glucometry, phlebotomy, specimen collection, and documentation.
  • Follow treatment plans as directed by licensed personnel.
  • Ensure patient comfort and satisfaction.
  • Assist with patient mobilization using proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
  • Provide safe, appropriate, and quality patient care.
  • Communicate patient condition changes and unit concerns with the team.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and complete required competencies.
  • Assist in orienting and educating new staff.
Physical and Sensory Requirements

Ability to sit up to 7 hours/day, stand up to 10 hours/day, walk 6 hours/day, lift objects up to 75 lbs occasionally, and transport patients up to 400 lbs. Must perceive attributes through touch, hear normal and high/low frequencies, and see general, near, far, color, and peripheral vision.

Education and Training
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Healthcare specialty training preferred.
  • One year of recent inpatient hospital experience required.
  • Obtain BLS certification within 60 days of employment.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Participation in St. Luke’s APC and MT courses or proven competency through testing.
