Department Overview

The St. Luke’s Central Staffing Department supports the network campuses to ensure appropriate staffing levels, enabling our PCAs to provide top-quality care. The Network Float (Central Staffing) PCA is an experienced professional motivated by the challenge of providing care across clinical settings in the network. Responsibilities include providing patient care and participating in data collection, planning, and implementation of patient care.

Position Details
  • Work in Acute Care (Med Surg) setting, traveling to a minimum of 5 network campuses.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in an inpatient hospital setting required.

Shift Details

Positions available for evening or night shifts only, based on network needs.

Application Requirements
  • Full-time (36 or 40 hours/week) and part-time positions available.
  • Holiday and weekend requirements per unit and company policies.
  • All positions require the ability to complete 6 consecutive business days of initial orientation and unit orientation.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform tasks such as vital signs, intake/output measurements, EKGs, glucometry, phlebotomy, specimen collection, and documentation.
  • Follow treatment plans as directed by licensed personnel.
  • Ensure patient comfort and satisfaction.
  • Assist with patient mobilization using proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
  • Provide safe, appropriate, quality patient care.
  • Communicate changes in patient conditions and unit concerns.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and competency completion.
  • Assist in orienting and educating new staff.
Physical and Sensory Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, and push as specified, with ability to perceive attributes through touch, hearing, and vision.

Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; healthcare training preferred.
  • At least one year of recent inpatient hospital experience required.
  • Obtain BLS certification within 60 days of employment.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Participation in APC and MT courses or evidence of previous training through competency testing.
