Job summary

Mercy is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to transition into the Birth Center/Labor & Delivery specialty at Mercy Hospital St. Louis.

The role offers full-time night shifts with January and February transition cohorts available, and a structured onboarding program to gain specialized knowledge in Labor & Birth nursing. Candidates from Med Surg, Telemetry, ICU, ED, OR, or other nursing backgrounds can transition with Mercy’s support, benefitting from advanced assessment, fetal monitoring,

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).
• Current RN License or eligibility for licensure in the state of Missouri.
• BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (or obtained within 30 days of hire).
• Previous RN experience in an acute care or applicable clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional patient-centered care throughout labor, delivery, and recovery.
• Assess, monitor, and respond to changing maternal and fetal conditions.
• Develop and implement individualized plans of care.
• Educate and support patients and families.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary care teams.
• Utilize fetal monitoring, laboratory, and diagnostic data to guide care decisions.
• Participate in bedside handoffs and patient safety initiatives.
• Contribute to quality improvement efforts and evidence-based practice.
• Maintain professional growth through certifications, continuing education, and specialty development.

Qualifications – Required

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:
