Job summary

Forward Air Corp. in Pooler, GA seeks an experienced Freight Handler (Forklift Operator) to safely load, unload, and stage freight in a fast-paced dock environment.

You will operate sit-down/stand-up forklifts and reach trucks, and use MHE like pallet jacks and handheld scanners to ensure accurate movement and documentation of cargo. The role requires 3+ years dock experience and strong safety awareness.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure or ability to obtain before operating equipment.
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing, to understand safety and operational instructions.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic to verify freight counts, quantities, and weights.
• Willingness to learn basic computer systems, handheld scanners, and freight-tracking devices.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and reach trucks.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and designated areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading and unloading following dock and safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight to ensure accuracy and documentation integrity.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues to supervision.
