Job summary

Nara Thai in Houston seeks a Food Expeditor/Host to greet guests and coordinate between kitchen and dining room in a fast-paced setting. You will be the face of the restaurant and ensure timely service with a friendly, professional attitude.

As part of a cohesive team, you will monitor dish readiness, assist staff, handle to-go orders, and uphold health standards while delivering outstanding hospitality to every guest.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate in English (speaking, reading, writing).
• Basic computer skills for POS systems and order entry.

Responsibilities

• Call out orders to the kitchen and coordinate with staff to serve dishes.
• Inform staff when dishes/ingredients run out and relay requests to kitchen.
• Monitor portions and ensure dishes meet standards and priority; verify cleanliness and temperature.
• Assist with togo and call-in orders; keep prep areas clean and stocked.
• Ensure health and safety standards are followed; help other staff as needed.
• Handle customer complaints and look for solutions on behalf of the kitchen.

A Food Expeditor/Host is one of the first people the guest sees and the last: you are the face of the restaurant! As a host/hostess, you will be a member of a cohesive team that supports each other's success in a fast-paced environment.

Food Expeditor/Host Responsibilities

• Ensuring communication in the kitchen by calling out orders, getting the status on dishes, and calling the waitstaff to serve completed dishes.
• Informing the waitstaff when certain dishes or ingredients have run out and passing food requests from the waitstaff to the kitchen.
• Monitoring the food portions on completed dishes according to restaurant standards.
• Ensuring that all orders are completed in time and with the correct priority.
• Inspecting the cleanliness, presentation, and temperature of completed dishes.
• Performing the finishing touches to completed dishes, such as adding garnishes and removing smudges.
• Pack togo order and handle call in orders.
• Keeping the cooking, storage, and prep areas clean, neat, and well-stocked.
• Ensuring all staff adheres to health and safety standards.
• Assisting all staff as needed.
• Handling customer complaints on behalf of the kitchen staff and looking for solutions.

Requirements
