Job summary

Aspen Dental is hiring an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to join our Sanford, FL practice. You will assist clinicians, manage patient flow, and perform radiographs while maintaining strict infection control standards.

Qualifications

• Current Dental Assistant License/Registration/Certification as required by state.
• Radiology (x-ray) certification as required by state.
• Current CPR or BLS certificate.
• 2+ years' experience as a Dental Assistant.
• Proficient at chairside assisting/four-handed dentistry.
• Demonstrate and provide instruction on proper sterilization and infection control techniques.
• Maintain and update annual CE requirement as specified by state.
• State Certification in expanded functions as required by state.

Responsibilities

• Assist with directing the DA office team to maintain productive patient flow.
• Assist doctors during a variety of treatment procedures.
• Breakdown operatory rooms for doctors and hygienists.
• Complete sterilization processes for equipment and operatory and ensure staff are trained on the process.
• Follow maintenance schedules for waterlines, autoclave, and compressor.
• Tray and operatory set-up for all procedures.
• Support patient charting for doctors at a proficient level.
• Train others to execute patient handoffs and monitor patient flow.
• Follow OSHA regulations and Aspen safety requirements, including HIPAA compliance.
• Take dental radiographs (X-rays).
• Educate patients on oral hygiene strategies to maintain health.
• Complete denture relines and temporary crowns.
• Monitor and aid in management of laboratory cases.
• Perform quality intraoral health scan of patients under 5 minutes.
• Understand clear aligner processes and methods to teach.
• Take quality impressions and bite registrations.
• Perform other expanded functions based on certification to support patient care.
• Ensure emergency kits and oxygen tanks are maintained.
• Order and maintain supplies in accordance with practice budget.
• Perform various office tasks as necessary.
