Job summary

Rodeo Dental & Orthodontics is seeking a dental assistant to support doctors in restorative procedures, take impressions and X-rays, and maintain digital patient records. The role requires at least 1 year of EDDA experience, and preferred experience with multi-surface fillings and dentures. CPR/AED training and OSHA/ HIPAA compliance are essential.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of dental assisting (EDDA) experience.
  • Experience in multi-surface fillings and dentures is required.
  • Active CPR and AED training is required.
  • Current certification to monitor Nitrous Oxide is preferred.
  • Maintain OSHA, HIPAA and Infection Control training annually.
  • Experience with dental practice management software (Open Dental/Dentrix) is helpful.
  • Sealants or Coronal Polishing certifications are a huge plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the doctor in restorative procedures including fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures, impressions and FMX.
  • Maintain patient safety as priority during procedures.
  • Follow OSHA and Infection Control protocols and dispose of sharps properly.
  • Update and maintain digital patient records (health history, eligibility, treatment plans).
  • Educate patients and families on oral health benefits.
  • Monitor patient well-being throughout visits.
  • Prepare tray setups and room cleanliness per doctor preferences.
  • Chart existing treatments and update records before/after visits.
  • Take diagnostic X-Rays and attach to patient charts.
  • Assist in maintaining clean and stocked operatories and common areas.

Job description

QUALIFICATIONS:

At least 1 years of dental assisting (EDDA) experience

Must have experience in multi surface filling and dentures

Active CPR and AED training

Current certification to monitor Nitrous Oxide preferred

Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA and Infection Control training

Dental practice management software (Open Dental/Dentrix) experience helpful

Sealant, Coronal Polishing, or PALS Certifications are all a huge plus!

Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assist the doctor in restorative procedures, composite fillings, crown and bridge, dentures, taking impressions, taking FMX, charting sterilization, placing rubber dam, pouring up models, root canals, and extractions

Focusing on Patient Safety and Team Safety as priority one

Adhering to OSHA and Infection Control Protocols, and disposing of sharps and clinical waste in a prompt and safe manner

Maintaining digital patient artifacts such as health history, insurance eligibility, treatment plans, pre-authorizations, lab requests, procedures, and appointment details

Educating patients and parents on the benefits of good oral health

Monitoring the patient's physical and emotional well-being during the entire visit

Preparing tray set-ups according to doctor preferences and planned procedures

Ensuring that exam rooms and operatories are cleaned, disinfected, organized, and stocked according to the required standards at the beginning and end of each patient interaction

Charting existing treatment for new patients by updating the patient chart with entries for fillings, crowns, sealants, etc.

Reviewing the patient chart and health history prior to the doctor arrival and reconfirming the patient's chief concern

Taking diagnostic quality X-Rays and attaching them to the patient chart

Helping the Rodeo Team clean surfaces, sinks, floors and common areas of exam rooms, operatories, reception, break rooms, restrooms, etc.

Performs all other duties as assigned

Compensation Range: $24-$28 per hour

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Prolonged sitting and standing as needed

Ability to lift up to 15 lbs
