Job summary

Mountain View Electric Association seeks a Vice President of Engineering to provide executive leadership and strategic direction for the Engineering Department, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective planning, design, construction, and operation of the electric distribution system.

You will lead long-range engineering, capital investment planning, and cross-functional collaboration with Regulatory, Operations, Finance, Safety, and Executive Leadership to advance the Cooperative’s mission

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required or ability to obtain licensure in Colorado within defined period of employment.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible electric utility engineering experience, including significant leadership, supervisory, system planning, capital project, and utility operations coordination responsibilities.
• Demonstrated executive leadership ability with in-workforce development, employee engagement, succession planning, performance management, coaching, conflict resolution, organizational development, and leading high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

• Leads and develops assigned teams to achieve organizational objectives by directing work, managing performance, and fostering employee growth.
• Responsible for annual departmental budget, work plan, and capital purchases; reviews monthly to ensure goals are met.
• Participates in Executive Team meetings for planning, policy development, and information exchange.
• Assists the CEO in planning and implementing organizational initiatives and provides engineering updates to the Board and Executive Leadership Team.
• Leads the Engineering Department through workforce planning, succession planning, and technical training to ensure long-term stability.
• Promotes a safe working environment by identifying and correcting safety issues and training needs.
• Leads long-range engineering and capital investment planning to support objectives.
• Develops and oversees cost-benefit analyses and risk-ranking methodologies to prioritize projects and optimize reliability and financial performance.
• Directs planning, design, modification, and upgrade of substations, transmission, and distribution facilities with compliance to standards.
