American Electric Power seeks a Vice President, Legal, Transmission to serve as the principal legal advisor to the President of Transmission and the leadership team. You will provide strategic, practical counsel on investments, risk, and major business initiatives, guiding complex transactions and real estate matters.

You will lead a small legal team, partner with enterprise counsel, manage outside firms, and align with enterprise standards to support Transmission growth and operations.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree required; JD or equivalent law degree from an accredited school.
• Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction; ability to obtain additional licenses as needed.
• Minimum 14 years of legal experience with senior leadership advisement and complex transactions.

Responsabilidades

• Serve as principal legal advisor to the President of Transmission and leadership team.
• Provide strategic counsel on priorities, investments, risk, and organizational matters.
• Translate legal issues into practical business solutions.
• Identify emerging risks and opportunities and recommend proactive strategies.
• Lead legal support for complex transactions, partnerships, investments, and commercial initiatives.
• Structure, negotiate, and draft key commercial agreements; support lifecycle activities.
• Advise on procurement, contracting, and risk management; establish contracting standards.
• Oversee real estate matters including easements, rights-of-way, title, and land use.
• Lead risk, governance, compliance, and regulatory matters; support executive decision-making.
• Manage outside counsel and legal budgets; coordinate enterprise-wide matters.
