Job summary

Seattle City Light in Seattle, WA, seeks a Senior Manager (Exec 2) to lead Substations, Protection & Telecommunications Engineering. You will provide management direction for these functions, with eight direct reports and about 30 engineers across two groups.

The role emphasizes budgeting, CIP/O&M planning, and coordinating with operations and external agencies to deliver large-scale projects, including two new substations and extensive protection work.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Power Engineering field.
• Minimum eight years of progressive leadership experience in utility engineering or operations.
• At least five years in a management or supervisory role within a large, diverse organization.
• PE license required in the United States with WA registration within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight of capital budgets and O&M budgets and staffing.
• Lead CIP/O&M long‑term plans for substations, protection, and telecom programs.
• Develop and implement work plans for Substation Engineering.
• Oversee engineering activities for high‑voltage substations serving customers.
• Coordinate with operations, dispatch, agencies and interties.
• Guide design and development of major substation projects >$150M each.
• Implement asset management systems and phase II planning.
