Job summary

Seattle City Light seeks two Electrical Power System Engineers to design overhead and underground distribution, manage large service projects, and lead capital projects with mentoring responsibilities.

Minimum six years in electrical power systems plus a Washington PE target within 12 months; role involves design reviews, training, and cross-department collaboration within the North Service Center.

Qualifications

• Six years of progressively responsible electrical power systems experience.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent preparation for professional electrical engineering work on major power systems.
• Professional Engineer licensure in Washington within 12 months of appointment or by comity from another state.

Responsibilities

• Perform planning and design of overhead and underground electrical distribution for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
• Prioritize and ensure designs meet guidelines and sound engineering principles.
• Prepare cost estimates, drawings, and material requirements per design guidelines.
• Manage large, service- and system-related projects (e.g., UW, SLU, Sound Transit, WSDOT 520).
• Develop and train engineers and coach non-engineers in electrical design and safety.
• Review SDOT and private street-use contracts; support other City Light units and agencies.
