Job summary

Citi is seeking a senior Engineering Manager to lead intelligent automation initiatives for Payments Operations and Client Servicing in Pune, India. You will guide a team delivering AI-enabled automation, leveraging Generative AI, LLMs, and cloud-native tech to transform large-scale payment workflows.

You will drive engineering strategy, delivery, and collaboration with Payments Ops, Product, and Tech, ensuring security, governance, and reliability in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering experience delivering large-scale enterprise applications, platforms, and distributed systems.
• 5+ years of experience leading software engineering teams, including globally distributed teams.
• Proven hands-on experience delivering Generative AI, LLMs, AI agents, workflow automation, or document intelligence in production.
• Demonstrated ability to lead while actively contributing to architecture, design, and delivery.
• Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, API development, and distributed systems design.
• Strong experience with event-driven architectures and Kafka.
• Experience deploying cloud-native apps using Kubernetes, OpenShift, containers, and DevOps.
• Strong understanding of AI architecture patterns including RAG, orchestration, AI agents, tool integration, and human-in-the-loop.
• Ability to drive execution with high standards for quality, reliability, and security.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication with senior leaders in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing team delivering intelligent automation for Payments Operations and Client Servicing.
• Own end-to-end engineering delivery from planning to production support.
• Define engineering roadmap for AI-enabled workflow automation aligned with business priorities.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership in architecture reviews and design decisions.
• Develop scalable software using Generative AI, LLMs, document intelligence, and orchestration.
• Collaborate with Payments Operations, Product, Architecture, and Tech to identify automation opportunities.
• Promote cloud-native architectures, microservices, CI/CD, DevOps, and platform engineering.
• Ensure standards for quality, security, compliance, and operational excellence.
