Job summary

Good Carbon Co. seeks a General Counsel to lead and shape its legal function across real estate, clean energy, construction, financing, tax credits, and employment.

The role will build the internal team, develop scalable processes, and advise senior leadership on complex strategic matters. You will drive risk management, regulatory compliance, and governance while coordinating with finance, operations, and project teams on high‑impact transactions and corporate initiatives.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree and active state bar admission.
• 10+ years of progressive legal experience.
• Strong transactional experience in real estate, tax credits, and corporate matters.
• Ability to lead internal team and coordinate with outside counsel.

Responsibilities

• Advise the CEO and executive team on significant legal, governance, compliance, and reputational matters.
• Build and lead the internal legal team and establish processes, playbooks, and escalation procedures.
• Oversee corporate governance, real estate, financing, tax‑credit, and employment matters; manage risk.
• Coordinate with Finance, Investments, and Operations to ensure sound contract management and business alignment.
