Job summary

City of Rowlett is seeking a Fire Chief to lead the Rowlett Fire Department, overseeing fire suppression, EMS, and community risk reduction. The Chief reports to the City Manager and will manage budgeting, staffing, training, and public representation before the City Council.

Interim leadership has been in place since March 2026. The successful candidate will build the executive team from day one, focusing on leadership, administrative duties, and long-range planning for facilities and apparatus

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Public Administration, or related field.
• Eight years of paid fire service experience, including four years as Chief Officer or higher.
• Valid driver's license.
• NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800.

Responsibilities

• Direct all operations of the Rowlett Fire Department, including fire suppression, EMS, and community risk reduction.
• Prepare and administer the department budget; supervise senior staff; set training standards.
• Represent the department to the City Council and the community.
