Job summary

Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking an Executive Director for Business Development to advance its mission through high-impact external partnerships. This senior leader will drive research collaborations, licenses, joint ventures, and spinouts, and will structure and negotiate complex transactions in collaboration with legal counsel.

The role requires strong financial modeling, executive communication, and the ability to manage multiple high-stakes deals with senior leadership and internal partners

Qualifications

• PhD, Master’s, MBA, or JD with at least 8 years in business development or related fields, including 2+ years of supervisory experience.
• Negotiation of complex agreements such as licenses, collaborations, or joint ventures.
• Experience working with legal counsel on contract negotiations and execution.
• Experience in or with academic medical centers, life sciences organizations.
• Strong executive-level written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of research collaborations, strategic alliances, licenses, joint ventures, and spinouts.
• Structure, value, and negotiate complex transactions.
• Develop sophisticated financial models to price deals, prepare budgets and term sheets.
• Collaborate with legal counsel on contract strategy and execution.
• Mentor business development staff and advise executive leadership.
