Ladders is seeking an Executive Director, People Business Partnership in San Diego, CA to shape the people strategy that enables growth, organizational effectiveness and leadership capability in a regulated biotech environment.

The role partners with senior leaders to translate enterprise priorities into actionable workforce and talent plans, while leading a team of People Business Partners delivering high-impact support across geographically dispersed functions.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive experience in People & Performance or HR leadership.
• Experience advising executive leaders in regulated environments such as biotechnology/healthcare.
• Strong business acumen and ability to translate strategy into workforce priorities.
• Proven success in organization design, workforce planning and large-scale change.

For our client, we are seeking a Executive Director, People Business Partnership to join the team of a leader in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech space.

This leader will shape the people strategy that supports growth, organizational effectiveness, and leadership capability across a regulated biotech environment. The role will partner closely with executive leaders and business stakeholders to translate enterprise priorities into actionable workforce and talent plans. It will also lead a team of People Business Partners and drive consistent, high-impact support across geographically dispersed functions.

Location: San Diego, CA

Compensation: $261,000 – $326,300 annually

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the People Business Partner team, ensuring high-quality support to leaders.
• Translate the organization's strategy into workforce and talent implications.
• Advise on organization effectiveness, workforce planning, and significant change initiatives.
• Guide People Business Partners in creating people plans aligned with business priorities.
• Partner with leaders to identify necessary capabilities and structures for growth.
• Build a forward-looking workforce planning approach for critical capabilities.
• Strengthen leadership effectiveness through coaching and organizational insights.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive experience in People & Performance or HR leadership, including 8+ years leading teams.
• Proven experience advising executive leaders in regulated environments such as biotechnology or healthcare.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to translate strategy into workforce and organizational priorities.
• Demonstrated success in organization design, workforce planning, and large-scale change initiatives.
• Exceptional communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to support geographically dispersed teams in a fast-paced environment.
