Job summary

Pit Crew at the NYC Office of Technology and Innovation seeks an Executive Director of Engineering to shape technical direction and drive delivery for the PIT Crew. This hands-on executive role pairs with designers, engineers, product managers, researchers and city staff to move from problem statements to working public-facing products.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college and five years of full-time experience related to projects and policies.
• Education and/or experience equivalent to the above.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a high-performing team focused on delivering measurable impact for New Yorkers.
• Establish modern best practices for your discipline and promote adoption.
• Manage and mentor talent effectively to ensure their time serving the City of New York is positive and meaningful.
• Foster a culture of speed, quality, pragmatism, and public service.
• Own and drive the team’s high-level roadmap. Identify and scope new projects. Manage project allocation and staffing.
• Ensure product launches are successful and deliver measurable impact for New Yorkers. Ensure all delivered products meet high standards of usability, accessibility, security and privacy.
• Collaborate and drive alignment across a wide range of stakeholders, including within the Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI), City Hall, other City agencies, and external partners; Oversee special projects and initiatives as assigned.
