Job summary

Travere Therapeutics in San Diego, CA seeks an Executive Director, Clinical Development to lead nephrology programs in rare kidney diseases. You will shape development strategy, lead cross-functional teams, and drive regulatory interactions with FDA/EMA, ensuring patient-centered, scientifically rigorous plans.

Extensive global development experience and strong leadership are required. The role reports to Global Clinical Development VP and requires travel up to 20-25%.

Qualifications

• MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree required; advanced training in nephrology strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in clinical research or drug development; at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Prior leadership in clinical programs in nephrology, rare disease, or related areas preferred.
• Strong understanding of trial design, dose selection, safety, endpoints, and complex data interpretation.
• Experience with regulatory submissions and health authority interactions.
• Deep appreciation for rare disease development challenges (small populations, site selection, endpoints, patient engagement).
• Excellent communication and influencing skills for senior leaders and governance bodies.

Responsibilities

• Lead overall clinical development strategy for assigned trials and inform indication strategy and lifecycle planning.
• Design and oversee studies across phases including protocol concepts, eligibility criteria, endpoints, and dose selection.
• Provide leadership for study conduct, protocol deviations, and data interpretation.
• Lead analysis and interpretation of clinical data and author key regulatory documents.
• Partner with Biometrics to define analysis strategy and interpret efficacy, safety, PK/PD, and biomarkers.
