Vertex Inc. is seeking an Executive Director, Portfolio & Program Management to lead the global PPM organization across disease areas in a hybrid Boston setting. The role demands strategic design, growth, and operational excellence with mentorship of senior program managers.

Based in Boston, MA, this hybrid position requires three days in the office and two remote days weekly, driving end-to-end integration of DST strategy with program execution and governance involvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or relevant field.
• 15+ years of experience, including 7+ years in management.
• Experience leading large, global teams and programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership to cross-functional teams across research, clinical, and marketed products.
• Lead and mentor Senior Directors and PPM staff across at least one additional disease area.
• Drive synergies and scalability across disease areas, optimizing resource allocation to meet portfolio priorities.
• Set strategy and oversee decision-making for high-priority programs, aligning with corporate objectives.
• Champion organizational design principles to enable agile, scalable teams and career development.
• Represent PPM on governance forums and with senior leaders, influencing portfolio growth.
• Propose and implement innovative approaches to maximize operational excellence.
• Oversee financial and human resource accountability for expanded teams.
• Ensure integration of research, development and commercialization with DST strategy.
