Job summary

The University of Chicago seeks a senior finance professional to lead budget, finance, accounting, and billing for the VP Operations umbrella. You will develop annual and long-range budgets, monitor performance, ensure GAAP compliance, and provide strategic financial guidance to university leadership.

Key responsibilities include forecasting, rate analyses, cost controls, and coordinating with CFO’s Office, Budget Office, and Financial Services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
• 10+ years of experience in finance or accounting.
• Experience in higher education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor annual and long-range operating budgets for all VP Operations entities.
• Prepare financial forecasts and analyze budget-to-actual variances.
• Oversee long-range funding models and identify improvements.
• Steward capital budgets for ITS and DSS, including project lifecycle management.
• Establish and maintain standards, policies, and internal controls.
• Ensure GAAP compliance including revenue recognition and accruals.
• Oversee year-end close processes and respond to audit inquiries.
• Develop and maintain the chart of accounts and segment management.
• Oversee internal billing, recharge guidelines, and sponsored awards.
• Perform financial analyses and provide strategic recommendations.
