Job summary

The University of Chicago, Department BSD AFA - Accounting, seeks a financial professional to coordinate operating and capital budgets for divisions and units. You will assist in developing long-range forecasts, support quarterly/year-end reporting, and handle accounts payable/receivable to ensure timely invoicing and payment.

Under Senior Director guidance, you’ll prepare monthly reports, support department finance functions, and leverage Excel to streamline processes.

Qualifications

  • Education: college or university degree in related field.
  • Work Experience: 2-5 years in a related job discipline.
  • Certifications: ---
  • Preferred: Bachelor's in accounting, finance, or equivalent.
  • Experience: 3+ years accounting/finance; university setting; financial modeling experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting/analysis for the Service Delivery Unit (SDU), including report generation, analysis, projections, and verification of accuracy of financial information.
  • Initiates and tracks external billing agreements and prepares associated monthly/quarterly invoicing.
  • Ad hoc reporting/financial analysis as needed by Senior Director and Executive Administrator, including daily volume and billing data and monthly productivity reporting.
  • Assists Director/Manager in reporting deliverables and department functions.
  • Participates in and contributes to the creation of the annual operating budget.
  • Performs accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks to ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices and billing.
  • Responsible for check deposits/claiming funds and ensuring compliance in depositing funds to the correct COA/POETAF segment.
  • Provides professional support as a primary account administrator for account owners in an intensive customer service environment.
