Job summary

The University of Chicago BSD AFA - Accounting is seeking a senior financial manager to lead department budgeting, forecasting and financial planning, aligning with executive leadership and ensuring compliance across the division.

This role partners with the Senior Director, department chair, and faculty, managing proformas, start‑ups, and analyses to support strategic initiatives and physician compensation programs. Strong financial modeling and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
• 7+ years of professional experience in accounting, financial planning, budgeting, analysis, forecasting, modeling, auditing, financial control systems, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience in higher education, healthcare, or academic medical center preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements operating budgets for the department.
• Consolidates budgets and prepares proformas for leadership review.
• Monitors budget reports and analyzes variances between actuals and plan.
• Manages physician compensation programs, including wRVU and targets.
• Performs financial data analysis using internal and benchmark data to drive strategies.
• Leads annual budgeting and provides financial guidance to leadership.
