Job summary

CVS Health is seeking an Executive Director, Clinical Strategy and Operations to integrate strategy, governance, and execution across Aetna Clinical Service’s SOPM. This role partners with senior leaders to translate enterprise direction into priorities and measurable results in Hartford, CT.

You will lead a six-person team, shape portfolio roadmaps, governance forums, and tool strategy, ensuring cross-functional alignment and effective change management across the organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in strategic planning, business operations, portfolio/program management, transformation, or related discipline.
• Experience translating enterprise strategy into multiyear operating plans and roadmaps with measurable outcomes.
• Experience establishing governance, operating reviews, performance management, and decision‑making processes.
• Strong portfolio management capabilities including prioritization, metrics, risk and dependency management, reporting, and corrective action planning.
• Experience leading strategy or optimization of portfolio management, workflow, reporting, and decision‑support tools.
• Proven ability to influence senior leaders and lead cross‑functional initiatives in a matrixed environment.
• Exceptional executive communication and analytical skills for complex information synthesis and recommendations.
• Demonstrated experience leading organizational change and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong people leadership including talent development and succession planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual and multiyear strategic and operating planning, aligning priorities and resources.
• Design and lead governance forums and decision processes with clear ownership and escalation.
• Integrate portfolio roadmaps, performance measures, risks, and dependencies; drive corrective actions.
• Define SOPM's tooling strategy and lead adoption of tools for intake, portfolio management, reporting, and decision support.
• Develop executive briefings and leadership agendas focusing on priorities, risks and decisions.
• Lead relationship management with business partners; align priorities and resolve issues.
• Lead SOPM change management and communications, aligning messages with strategic priorities.
• Lead a team of six employees; guide workforce planning, development, and succession planning.
