Job summary

Applied Information Sciences is seeking a Director of Operations / Principal Cloud Operations Manager to lead enterprise IT operations for a large defense-focused customer on Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365. You will guide service performance, drive operational maturity, and ensure successful transitions of new capabilities into steady-state operations.

You will manage a growing team of engineers and support professionals, establish data-driven goals, and regularly brief executives on service

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise IT operations, managed services, cloud operations, or service delivery.
• 5+ years in senior leadership with direct accountability for production service outcomes.
• Demonstrated leadership of a large technical organization (~50+ engineers, admins, or equivalent).
• Proven data-driven management using operational metrics to drive priorities and improvements.
• Experience transitioning new technology services into production O&M with readiness criteria and acceptance.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end operational performance across Azure, M365, Entra ID, and related cloud platforms.
• Lead and grow a multidisciplinary team of engineers and support staff.
• Establish data-driven operational model with SLAs, KPIs, MTTA/MTTR, and backlog aging.
• Serve as executive-facing leader, communicating service health in business terms.
• Manage multiple priorities including incidents, risks, transitions, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee RCAs, corrective actions, and post-transition stabilization.
