Job summary

Goodwin Living is seeking an Executive Chef to lead the Culinary Department across three restaurant concepts, catering, and healthcare kitchens in Alexandria, VA. You will oversee staff, maintain quality and costs, and ensure HACCP compliance while delivering exceptional resident dining experiences.

The role requires strong management, budgeting, and food-safety expertise, plus ServSafe certification. You’ll drive training, standard recipes, and daily specials while upholding high service

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required; commensurate experience considered.
• 5–10 years of kitchen management in fine dining or luxury retirement/corporate setting.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to write routine reports.
• Experience with budgets and inventory management.
• Proficient with automated food production systems and MS Office.
• ServSafe certification or ability to obtain within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Plan regular and modified menus per established guidelines.
• Direct food preparation; ensure quality, portions and presentation.
• Lead daily meetings with production team members.
• Train kitchen staff in preparation, safety, and sanitation per regulations.
• Maintain cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment and areas.
• Manage inventory to stay within guidelines and ensure availability.
• Ensure HACCP compliance and pass health audits.
• Participate in hiring decisions in coordination with HR.
