Job summary

Bristol Community College is seeking a strategic Chief Financial Officer with deep expertise in higher education finance to guide the college’s fiscal health and operational excellence. This executive role oversees finance, facilities, payroll, risk management, and compliance while advancing the institution’s mission and equity goals.

The Vice President reports to the President, sits on the leadership team, and leads across multiple departments and campuses.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Business, Finance, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in administration and finance, including at least five years in a senior leadership or supervisory role.
• Demonstrated expertise in strategic financial management, capital/long-range planning, enterprise risk management, and compliance in a complex organization.
• Deep knowledge of Massachusetts statutes and regulatory requirements as they pertain to higher education finance and administration.
• Proficiency with modern financial technology and enterprise resource planning systems (Ellucian or similar highly desirable).
• Exceptional analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build consensus, lead diverse teams, and foster an inclusive environment.
• Commitment to ethical leadership, continuous professional development, and advancing the mission and values of a public community college.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the chief fiscal and administrative officer, overseeing all financial operations, including budget planning and administration (FY27 ~$109M), audits, investments, debt management, payroll, bursar, and compliance.
• Advise the President, Board, and leadership team on strategic financial planning and risks with clear analysis.
• Ensure integrity and transparency of financial statements and reporting in line with GAAP and higher education standards.
• Oversee facilities management and capital improvement, including sustainability initiatives.
• Lead campus safety, emergency management, and regulatory compliance to create a safe learning environment.
• Direct auxiliary and enterprise services to ensure high-quality, fiscally responsible operations.
• Supervise a diverse team across departments and campus locations to meet institutional goals.
• Act as liaison to external stakeholders and participate in governance, audits, and community partnerships.
• Promote equity, continuous improvement, and alignment with the College’s Strategic Plan.
