Job summary

NC State University is seeking an Executive Catering Chef to lead a $4M catering operation and oversee retail food production at the Talley Student Union in Raleigh, NC.

In this role, you will mentor a diverse kitchen team, manage budgets and scheduling, and ensure exceptional guest experiences for VIP events and daily campus service. Strong leadership, culinary excellence, and ServSafe and safety compliance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Home Economics, Hospitality Management, or a related field plus one year of food management experience; OR an Associate’s degree plus three years of food management experience; OR equivalent training and experience.
• Experience managing large-volume catering operations and VIP events preferred.
• Experience with industry software like NetMenu is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and standardize menus and recipes reflecting modern trends.
• Oversee high-volume production with fine-dining execution and just-in-time production.
• Lead BOH team including unit chef, sous chefs, and cooks; mentor staff.
• Manage labor and food costs, inventory, procurement, and budget planning.
