Job description

Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems to the global enterprise and technology markets. Our platform, Ubuntu, is widely used in breakthrough enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. Our customers include leading public cloud and silicon providers, as well as industry leaders across various sectors. The company is a pioneer of global distributed collaboration, with over 1000 colleagues in more than 70 countries, and very few roles based in physical offices. Teams meet two to four times annually in interesting locations worldwide to align on strategy and execution.

The company is founder-led, profitable, and growing. We are hiring Executive Assistants and Corporate Administrators to join our Corporate Operations team. These roles ensure smooth business operations, efficiently managing travel, expenses, and events.

We seek positive team players who are self-driven, results-oriented, and have excellent attention to detail. Ideal candidates are forward planners, reliable, determined, and eager to take responsibility for projects, processes, and policies. We value excellent organizers and communicators who are keen to develop their skills and pursue continuous improvement, rather than extensive prior experience.

This team plays a crucial role in the overall operation of the business. They support department leads, handle logistics, expenses, travel, and scheduling, and are vital to our success. We look for confident, effective individuals with good judgment and the self-assurance to uphold policies regardless of seniority. If you enjoy taking responsibility and ensuring tasks are completed properly and efficiently, you will find this role rewarding.

Location: This is a global operation with open roles in all time zones.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support operations for one or more departments in the company
  2. Coordinate monthly reports and schedule meetings and interviews
  3. Organize and manage logistics for international company events
  4. Manage quarterly and annual executive meetings
  5. Collaborate across teams on activities and initiatives
  6. Manage relationships with suppliers and stakeholders

What we are looking for in you:

  1. Excellent academic results at school and university
  2. A degree in a business or technical field
  3. Excellent communication skills
  4. Responsibility, integrity, and accountability
  5. Self-awareness and thoughtfulness
  6. Ability to travel up to four times a year for company events of up to two weeks
  7. Ability to learn new technology and software quickly

Additional Skills We Value:

  1. Experience in operations and executive support
  2. Project management experience
  3. Event management experience
  4. Travel industry experience

What we offer you:

We consider geographical location, experience, and performance in shaping worldwide compensation. We revisit compensation annually (and more often for graduates and associates) to recognize outstanding performance. In addition to base pay, we offer a performance-driven annual bonus and various benefits reflecting our values and ensuring fairness globally.

  • Distributed work environment with twice-yearly in-person team sprints
  • USD 2,000 annual learning and development budget
  • Annual compensation review
  • Recognition rewards
  • Annual holiday leave
  • Maternity and paternity leave
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Opportunities to travel and meet colleagues in new locations
  • Priority Pass and travel upgrades for long-haul company events
