Job description

Skills Alliance has been exclusively retained by a Seattle-based biotech startup that is seeking a highly organized, proactive Assistant with a strong scientific background to serve as an operational assistant to the Chief Executive Officer/Chief Scientific Officer of a biotechnology company developing transformative therapies for amyloid diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.

The Executive Assistant will help maximize the effectiveness of the CEO by managing priorities, coordinating internal and external activities and synthesizing scientific and business information.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable managing executive logistics and engaging deeply with scientific content, including reviewing research materials, assisting in the preparation of scientific presentations, manuscripts and/or regulatory filings, and supporting investor and board communications.

Key Responsibilities
Executive Partnership & Strategic Support
  • Serve as a trusted partner to the CEO, helping manage priorities and workflows.
  • Prepare briefing materials, background research, and decision-support documents for CEO meetings and engagements.
  • Support special projects and cross-functional initiatives critical to company growth and advancement.
Board, Investor & Scientific Communications
  • Support preparation of materials for Board of Directors, investor meetings, and scientific advisory boards, largely focused on scientific updates.
  • Review and synthesize scientific literature, preclinical data packages, manuscripts, and internal research updates. (nice to have)
  • Translate complex biological and technical concepts into clear, compelling presentations suitable for both scientific and non-scientific audiences. (nice to have)
Executive Operations & Coordination
  • Manage CEO scheduling, meeting preparation, travel coordination, and day-to-day administrative priorities.
  • Coordinate internal leadership meetings, track deliverables, and ensure timely follow-through across the organization.
  • Serve as a communication bridge between the CEO and internal teams, external collaborators, advisors, and investors.
Scientific & Business Support
  • Develop a strong understanding of the company’s therapeutic programs, disease biology, and development strategy.
  • Support competitive intelligence, scientific landscape assessments, and analysis of emerging developments in neurodegeneration and biotechnology.
  • Assist with preparation of partnering materials, scientific narratives, and external communications.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. or Msc. degree in a scientific discipline.
  • 5–10+ years of experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, life sciences consulting, or a related scientific environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret complex scientific data and communicate it effectively to varied audiences.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of executive-level presentations and briefing documents.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • High level of discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment when handling confidential information.
  • Powerpoint and other skills; scientific figures and graphs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting executive leadership, founders, or C-suite leaders in a biotechnology setting.
  • Familiarity with neurodegenerative disease biology, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, or related therapeutic areas.
  • Understanding of drug discovery and preclinical development processes.
  • Experience preparing materials for Boards of Directors, Scientific Advisory Boards, investors, or strategic partners.
