As the 4th largest public college of education in the country and the 3rd largest college at UGA, the Mary Frances Early College of Education (MFE COE) improves the lives of residents of Georgia and beyond through our instruction, research, and service. The MFE COE is a comprehensive college with disciplines focused on teacher preparation, counseling and human development, communication sciences, human movement sciences, career development, student affairs, and educational administration and policy. We place significant emphasis on graduate education with approximately 40% of our students at the graduate level, making us the second largest college at UGA with respect to graduate education. Position Summary

This incumbent provides executive-level support to the Dean of the Mary Frances Early College of Education and is responsible for efficient and effective management of the office. Administrative duties include managing the Dean’s correspondence and calendar, serving as liaison with internal and external constituents, anticipating and addressing needs of the Dean by using independent judgment. Responsibilities involve handling information that is sensitive, high-profile and confidential nature, such as personnel matters and donor information. Activities and decisions are highly complex and require significant independent action and judgment while adhering to institutional policies.

  • Serve as principal point of contact between the Dean’s office and the President’s Office; Provost’s Office; other Deans; MFE COE Associate Deans, directors, department heads, faculty, staff, donors, alumni, parents; industry, government, other institutions, and the public, using discretion in all communications.
  • Manage and coordinate regular administrative, faculty, and staff meetings that are scheduled by the Dean’s office (e.g., Cabinet, Department Heads, Leadership Council, Superintendent’s Advisory Council).
  • Develop, distribute and retain agendas and supporting documents.

Duties/Responsibilities: Provide leadership and management for the dean’s office
  • Serve as receptionist for dean’s suite (dean, development, communications, associate dean for faculty and staff services), answering the phone and greeting visitors.
  • Answer questions and interpret policies and procedures.
  • Schedule conference rooms, oversee mail operations, coordinate a limited number of events, manage copy machine and supplies, and manage Aderhold parking issues.
  • Ensure that office operations are in compliance with policy and standards.
