Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks an EC Teacher Assistant to support instructional staff in guiding students toward their IEP goals. You will work under general supervision to facilitate access to general education and assist with lesson delivery, behavior management, and data collection.

Responsibilities include supervising in multiple school settings, assisting with materials, and supporting therapists as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or 48 college credits or equivalent
• WorkKeys and 96 hours of in-service training or completion of the apprenticeship
• One year working with EC students preferred
• Equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
• Assist children individually or in small groups to reinforce learning
• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, and cafeterias
• Enforce administration policies and rules governing students
• Coordinate instructional efforts with the classroom teacher
• Provide physical assistance and monitor student activities as needed
• Document student progress toward IEP goals
• Present subject matter under teacher direction using appropriate delivery methods
• Assist with attendance procedures, record keeping, and classroom setup
• Participate in daily transportation duties for children when needed
• Support during drills, assemblies, field trips, and other school events
• Provide support in self-help, clothing management, toileting, and feeding as required
• Assist therapists and teachers with occupational/physical therapy activities
