Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks an Exceptional Children Teacher Assistant to support EC instruction under teacher supervision. This role helps students meet IEP goals and facilitates access to general education as needed. Starting date is immediate; this is a full-time, 9-month position.

Primary duties include supervising students, assisting with assignments, and documenting progress for teachers and administrators. Work occurs on CMS premises; additional locations may be required as needed.

Qualifications

• At least one of: Associate's degree; 48 college credits; WorkKeys and 96 hours of in-service training; Completion of NC DOL Teacher Assistant Apprenticeship Program.
• One year experience with EC children preferred
• Equivalent education and experience accepted

Responsibilities

• Adhere to laws, policies, and procedures.
• Assist students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, and gymnasiums.
• Coordinate duties with the classroom teacher to support instruction.
• Assist with attendance procedures and record keeping.
• Prepare lesson materials and classroom displays.
