Job summary

The Senator John Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking an Event Operations Manager to join our Events Team, supporting the Events Director and on-site staff in producing a wide range of facility rental events, including corporate receptions, galas, weddings, and other milestones.

You will manage setup and breakdown, vendor load-ins/outs, run AV equipment, and ensure exceptional customer service through clear communication with clients, vendors, and patrons while maintaining safety

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in event execution and facility rental coordination.
  • Experience operating audio-visual equipment and managing on-site staff.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and take down assets for each event.
  • Manage vendor load-ins and load-outs.
  • Set up and operate AV equipment during events.
  • Coordinate with staff, clients, vendors, and patrons on-site.

About Senator John Heinz History CenterThe Senator John Heinz History Center is a Smithsonian-affiliated museum and a first-day Pittsburgh attraction that presents compelling stories from American history with a Western Pennsylvania connection, all in an interactive and engaging environment for visitors of all ages. They are also responsible for delivering extraordinary customer service, maintaining excellent intradepartmental communication, and compliance with the museum’s best practices and safety standards for facility use.The successful candidate will have at least two years of experience in event execution, facility rental coordination and audio visual experience. High school diploma or equivalent required, college degree a plus.The candidate should be able to manage projects both independently and as part of a team; multi-task, meet deadlines, and work well in a fast-paced work environment; be able to innovate, solve problems, remain calm under pressure; and be capable of overcoming issues as they arise. Customer service and strong communication skills are required. The candidate should be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Understanding and operating different types of audio visual and sound equipment is strongly preferred. Availability to work evenings and weekends is essential.1-2 years of supervisory experience is also preferred.
