Job summary

Hy-Vee Inc. seeks a Catering Coordinator to own the full catering experience from first meeting to final invoice. You will write detailed orders, coordinate across kitchen, bakery, and deli, and ensure events run smoothly with a focus on exceptional customer service.

You will manage pricing, invoicing, and contracts for Hy-Vee catering events, while upholding standards of service, sanitation, and store guidelines in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years of similar or related work experience.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers with a smile.
• Meet with customers to understand catering needs and write detailed orders.
• Coordinate across kitchen, bakery, and deli departments for each event.
• Maintain department standards for service, cleanliness, and appearance.
• Contact businesses to share Hy-Vee catering services and develop contracts.
• Determine pricing, prepare bills, and oversee invoicing procedures.
• Develop standard catering practices and perform quality control checks.
• Organize store shows and events, coordinating with the events team.
• Advise customers on rental equipment and purchases with Store Director approval.
• Ensure proper temperatures and storage procedures for freshness.
• Lead department work, assign tasks, and participate in manager meetings.
• Attend meetings and help ensure competitive pricing in the market area.
