Event Operations Manager
Hotel Covington & The Madison Event Center
Covington, KY
Full-Time In Office

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and execute all private events at Hotel Covington and The Madison Event Center, including wedding ceremonies, receptions, rehearsal dinners, non-profit fundraisers, celebrations, board meetings, corporate seminars, networking functions, and more.
  2. Recruit, hire, and support a team that embodies our company culture and provides excellent customer service.
    • Create job postings, review applications, conduct interviews, onboard, and train new hires.
  3. Support and manage event staff, up to 80 part-time employees.
    • Coach, motivate, and lead by example daily.
    • Provide necessary tools for staff to deliver the best service.
    • Plan and conduct quarterly team meetings and annual performance reviews.
    • Counsel, support, and discipline underperforming staff.
    • Review and update training guides and policies.
  4. Ensure exceptional customer service at all levels.
    • Resolve customer issues and concerns as needed.
    • Train staff to meet and exceed guest expectations.
  5. Maintain organized and presentable facilities.
    • Ensure event spaces are ready for client tours.
    • Keep back-of-house areas clean and organized.
    • Manage daily housekeeping and quarterly cleaning schedules.
  6. Collaborate effectively with other departments such as Sales, Restaurant, and Culinary Teams.
    • Attend weekly meetings.
    • Review and finalize event details with staff.
  7. Assist in managing labor and supply costs.
    • Place weekly orders with vendors.
    • Negotiate and manage vendor contracts.
    • Create event schedules and manage payroll.
  8. Prepare for and execute in-house events like tastings, luncheons, and employee events.
  9. Manage vendor and local business relationships.
    • Support outside vendors on-site and cultivate positive relationships.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
