Restaurant Experience (Foundations Is Recommended)

Job Details

We are looking for experienced Leaders/Kitchen Assistants to join our Event team at Purslane. We host events and private parties at multiple locations around NYC. We are a small team and are currently looking for team members who are neat, efficient, detail-oriented, work well with others, and most importantly, have a sense of urgency.

Compensation Details

• Hourly ($35-$45) Leader
• Hourly ($25-$35) Kitchen Assistant

Requirements

• Able to work in a neat and efficient manner in a high-pressure environment
• Experience on multiple stations in the kitchen (HDS/Canapes/Proofers/Grill)
• Ensuring that food portions and presentation meet event standards
• Knife skills and proficiency in all aspects of cooking (sauces, proteins, techniques in general)
• Assist Culinary Leads with any needs
• Knowledge about the items served
• Maintain a clean and organized work station and kitchen equipment, including fridges and freezers
• Ensure all Purslane equipment is returned to the kitchen
• Assist with unloading deliveries (BOH and FOH) — no exceptions

Qualifications & Skills

• Professional work ethic and commitment
• 2-3 years of experience in banquets or catering events
• Attention to detail, ensuring quality and presentation aligned with the chef's vision
• Good communication skills and ability to listen to instructions
• Open schedule
• Ability to work independently and solve problems
• Teamwork is essential (no attitude issues)
• Must be able to meet physical demands, including extended periods of standing and walking, lifting and carrying over 30 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 75 pounds (no exceptions)

Restaurant experience is a plus.
