Store - DET-TROY, MI

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events (including kids' birthday parties) within a Michaels store to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests. Deliver friendly customer service by helping customers shop and find what they’re looking for. Ensure all customers receive a fast and friendly checkout experience. Complete operational tasks including truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards to uphold our Brand Promises.

Event Coordination
  • Plan and coordinate multiple events simultaneously, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes.
  • Create a fun and creative environment for clients of all ages.
  • Demonstrate and instruct craft projects, perform face painting, and other activities.
  • Implement party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards.
  • Communicate event details effectively with clients and team members.
  • Handle administrative tasks like emails, phone calls, and paperwork.
  • Adjust plans based on client feedback and needs.
  • Create backup or emergency plans as necessary.
  • Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards; set up, break down, and clean after events.
Customer Experience
  • Assist customers with shopping, product location, and solutions.
  • Provide quick and friendly checkout experiences.
  • Engage customers in Rewards program and Credit Card enrollments.
  • Educate customers about Voice of Customer surveys.
  • Support Omni channel processes like BOPIS and SFS.
  • Participate in truck unload, stocking, planogram, merchandise recovery, and maintenance.
  • Support store in-stock and safety programs.
  • Adhere to SOPs and company policies to ensure compliance.
  • Interact respectfully and positively with others, embodying the company’s values.
  • Cross-train in Custom Framing sales and production.
  • Participate in store cleanliness activities.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Energetic, enthusiastic personality.
  • Ability to handle stress and interact effectively with guests and co-workers.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Experience with children and children’s events.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Retail and customer service experience required.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Stand for long periods, move throughout the store, and perform physical tasks like lifting and reaching.
  • Work includes nights, weekends, and early mornings; some outdoor work and handling heavy boxes.
