Job Summary/Basic Function | This position focuses on fostering engagement among students, faculty, staff, and in some instances, local communities through events that support academic success, community building, and institutional goals. Events may include student-oriented activities, division gatherings, and outreach events. This position could also provide support for major university events (which might include commencement). This role requires strong organizational skills, creativity, and the ability to collaborate across departments and with community partners to ensure seamless event delivery that aligns with the university’s mission of access and excellence. Ability to engage with and lead staff and volunteers at events is required.
Required Qualifications | Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience Two years of experience in event planning, coordination, or outreach in a higher education, nonprofit, or similar setting.
Preferred Qualifications | Preferred: Degree in event management, communications, or a related field. Familiarity with social media and digital marketing tools to create engaging promotional campaigns for events. Budget management experience Experience coordinating large-scale events in a university environment. Strong knowledge of accessibility standards
