Ain Dah Yung Center in Saint Paul, MN is seeking a full-time Youth Care Worker to oversee daily shelter operations, provide direct care and supervision to residents aged 5-17, and support families within a culturally respectful environment.

The role involves meal prep, activity planning, case management, and collaboration with the Shelter Coordinator and Clinical Director. DOE salary and full benefits offered.

Qualifications

• AA degree in human services, child development, elementary/secondary education or related field is preferred.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience working with youth who exhibit difficult behavior in residential/therapeutic/group settings; knowledge of Native American culture is preferred.
• Ability to work constructively with children and youth with difficult behaviors.
• Knowledge of traditional Indian child-rearing methods, culture, values and family systems.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 25 pounds and climbing stairs, and pass MN DHS background check.

Responsabilités

• Provide daily staff supervision and program coordination for the Emergency Shelter.
• Direct supervision to Shelter Coordinator and the Residential & Clinical Director.
• Provide direct care, behavior management and safety for shelter residents.
• Prepare healthy meals for shelter residents per menu.
• Maintain sanitary kitchen and assist with maintenance duties.
• Facilitate daily activities and groups (recreational, cultural or educational).
• Provide case management support: transportation and documentation.
• Plan and facilitate weekly schedule activities.
• Supervise parental visits and provide emotional support to residents and families.
• Enforce program policies and coordinate with other Youth Care Workers.
• Provide transportation to residents and handle referrals information.
• Attend weekly case management meetings.

Formation

AA degree in human services, child development, elementary/secondary education or related field

3+ years’ experience working with youth in residential/therapeutic settings; Native American culture knowledge
