Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or graduate of a Surgical Technologist Program required; 6 months of surgical tech experience may substitute education.
• 6 months recent OR Surgical Technologist experience required; graduation from program may be substituted for experience.

Responsibilities

• Check supplies and equipment for the procedure and adjust instrumentation as needed.
• Maintain strict sterile technique and report any breaches immediately.
• Set up sterile table with instruments, supplies, and equipment before patient entry.
• Mix and label medications under RN supervision.
• Perform counts with RN Circulator before incision and before closing.
• Assist surgeon by handing instruments, holding retractors, and suturing support as directed.
• Position patient on OR table and place sterile dressings after surgery.
• Provide timely reports to oncoming staff and participate in education activities.
• Restock room supplies and adhere to department policies and procedures.
