Job summary

Stormont Vail Health is seeking a Lead Surgical Technologist to manage instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures. You will instruct new hires and precept staff, ensuring adherence to sterile technique and safe patient care during operations.

The role requires 2 years of surgical technology experience, graduation from an OR program or equivalent, and preferred certification as a Surgical Technologist (AST). On-site position with day shifts in Topeka, KS.

Qualifications

• 2 years Surgical technologist experience is required.
• Graduate of structured operating room program or comparable education is required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist - AST preferred.

Responsibilities

• Hands instruments and supplies to surgeon, holds retractors, cuts sutures, and performs tasks as directed by surgeon during the operation.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, and equipment prior to patient entry.
• Assists team members to position patient on OR table and gowns gloves surgeon and assistants.
• Performs counts with RN Circulator before incision and before closure.
• Maintains sterile technique and reports any compromise.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for transport to decontamination and scrubs/gowns/gloves.
• Mixes and labels medications under RN supervision.
• Precepts new scrubs as assigned.
