Job summary

Downtown Emergency Service Center in Oregon seeks energized Residential Counselors to support residents of Permanent Supportive Housing. You will assist with daily needs, coordinate services with clinical staff, and help run on-site activities while addressing mental health and substance use challenges with compassion.

The role emphasizes safety, logging events, and collaboration with maintenance and visiting providers.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of homelessness and challenges of homeless adults.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work with clients displaying challenging behaviors.
• Commitment to cooperative, respectful client care.

Responsibilities

• Interact with residents in the general milieu and common areas.
• Assist clinical staff in coordinating services for residents.
• Facilitate on-site activities, therapeutic support groups, outings and community meetings.
• Maintain daily log of significant events and incidents.
• Respond to resident complaints and emergencies as needed.
• Assist with room turnovers, leasing and inspections; and participate in staff meetings.
