Job summary

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Department Manager or equivalent experience required.
• Strong understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
• Good judgment solving problems, making decisions, handling complaints, arbitrating disputes and resolving grievances.
• Desire and ability to lead and manage associates throughout multiple departments.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with the day-to-day operations of the entire store.
• Responsible for hiring, training, and developing associates.
• Manage performance through performance management, coaching, appraisal and disciplinary efforts.
• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with primary emphasis on fast and easy customer service.
• Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of Food Lion's Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision and Strategy.
• Ensure proper control of all store funds and company assets.
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions that could cause accidents.
• Observe and ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards.
• Understand and use company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, and ordering.
• Support achievement of store budgeted financial and operating results.
• Maximize sales through excellent customer service and minimize shrink through proper inventory controls.
• Ensure store conditions, customer service and satisfaction, product quality and availability meet standards.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
• Ensure staffing schedules meet business needs across departments.
• Communicate expectations and provide training to associates.
• Complete CBT, Training Packet and Training Aid courses.
• Perform all other duties and projects as assigned.
