Job summary

Safeway in Alaska is seeking a Person In Charge (PIC) to lead the store during the Store Manager and assistant managers' absence, including night shifts. You will supervise staff, assist cashiers, and ensure customer service and store operations run efficiently.

The PIC will also act as a cashier-checker, participate in department coverage, and handle basic office tasks to support customers and personnel. Reasonable accommodations may be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Customer service skills and awareness of store policies.
• Ability to interact with customers and coworkers.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Knowledge of all store positions and operations.
• Ability to work independently.
• Desirable: prior clerk or managerial experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service per employer standards and policies.
• Handle emergencies, complaints, and supervise store personnel.
• Maintain familiarity with company policies and procedures.
• Oversee sales floor for service and stock replenishment.
• Replace stock in displays near checkout area.
• Maintain clean and safe work environment across the store.
• Assist other cashiers with register issues and help customers.
