Job summary

The University of Georgia's Rock Eagle Dining operations seeks a Sous-Chef to prepare a wide variety of meats, fish, vegetables, breads and desserts for the Rock Eagle Dining Hall and related venues.

Work includes evening hours with occasional day, weekend and holiday shifts, limited supervision, and Manager On Duty duties.

You will help train staff, ensure food safety, and collaborate with the Executive Chef on menu planning and portion control.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of related experience.
• Knowledge of food preparation and safety regulations is essential.
• Ability to work independently and supervise others as needed.
• Experience with a variety of kitchen equipment and event catering.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meats, fish, vegetables, breads and desserts.
• Consult with Executive Chef to determine prep methods and reduce leftovers.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and maintain food safety standards.
• Assist in setting up and serving catering events.
• Facilitate training of new employees.
• Open or close the department in supervisor's absence.
